Final Report: Energy- and Carbon-oriented Industrial Symbiosis
Task XXI Net-zero Industrial Processes in a Circular Economy Framework aims to investigate the topic of circular carbon from an industry perspective, i.e., to describe industrial energy systems in the context of a sustainable, fossil-free economy, striving to meet the targets of both concepts, the circular economy and a sustainable energy system.
Subtask 3 Energy- and carbon-oriented Industrial Symbiosis focused on industrial symbiosis as a concept for decarbonizing industrial sites. This expands on the focus of Subtask 2 Circular Carbon and explores inter-organizational collaborations for value creation of underutilized carbon and energy flows in industry.
The subtask has included four activities where the initial focus has been on defining and delimiting the concept of industrial symbiosis within the IETS TCP. Then activities discussion good practice, new developments and specifically business models have followed. Finally networking with other tasks and TCP´s has been included in the work, since symbiosis is a concept that can be seen in many of the tasks in the IETS.
The activities described in this Final Report are as follows:
- Definition and delimitation
- Good practice examples
- Business Models
- Networking with other IETS Tasks and other TCPs’ Tasks
