Euromembrane 2021 – a successful (physical) event

Concluding 2021 – Task work

Prof. Frank Lipnizki from Lund University and Prof. Morten Lykkegaard Christensen, Aalborg University, at the Euromembrane 2021.

The outstanding event associated with Task XVII (Membranes in biorefineries) was certainly Euromembrane 2021 in Copenhagen combined with a Task meeting.

Despite COVID 435 people attended the conference at the Tivoli Hotel and Congress Centre from 28th of November to 3rd December. The event was organized by Prof. Frank Lipnizki from Lund University and Prof. Morten Lykkegaard Christensen, Aalborg University, who are also Task and subtask leader respectively in the Task XVII.

The conference covered topics directly relevant for the Task, such as membrane applications in biorefineries, membrane fouling and cleaning, emerging membrane processes and wastewater treatment. The Task meeting held on Monday 29th of November during the lunch break was open all congress participants and approx. 50 people took the opportunity to join the meeting and learn about the Annex and the opportunities plus provided valuable input on the future directions of the Task.

Three questions to Task Manager Frank Lipnizki from Lund University, Sweden:

What has been the most rewarding this year?

“Successfully organizing Euromembrane as a physical event with only very few cancellations against all odds.”

What has been the biggest challenge?

“Meeting a lot of friends and colleagues only on the computer screen due to COVID.”

What do you look forward to  the most for 2022?

“We will hopefully prepare a successful extension of Annex XVII to continue the excellent network established and personally and professionally meet people again physically.”
