First ever IEA Energy Innovation Forum

In 2024, the IEA is celebrating five decades as a leader in the global dialogue on energy. In commection to the IEA 2024 Ministerial Meeting, the first-ever edition of the IEA Energy Innovation Forum was held.

Dr. Timur Gül, Chief Energy Technology Officer, is happy to share som highlights:

“We gathered 250 strongly engaged participants throughout the day (with 350 people present for the opening session), representing 45 countries and 6 continents. More than 70 companies and start-ups, as well as 15 investors, joined the conversation, alongside many influential thought leaders on innovation policy who were around the table during the discussions.

We would like to share the following materials:

  • Recordings from the Forum’s sessions (except for the breakout sessions) are available on the event page
  • The IEA Ministerial communiqué, particularly noting paragraphs 16 and 17 recognising the TCP and reflecting IEA’s strengthened mandate on international energy technology cooperation
  • A web article on iea.org summarising the Forum’s outcomes, including a video broadcast during the opening session that features CERT and TCPs
  • The Forum’s final agenda
  • The virtual photo exhibition of 50 Technologies that Changed Energy
  • Photos from the Forum

We warmly welcome the language in the IEA 2024 Ministerial communique on the IEA’s leading role in convening support for clean energy technology and innovation. The reference to the TCP and the new Working Party on Industrial Decarbonisation is strongly appreciated, and provides clear recognition of the importance and value of the work under CERT.

Many thanks again to all colleagues for their support with the preparation of the Energy Innovation Forum.”
